The Importance of Touch: Inside a Paris Studio Dedicated to Men’s Wellbeing
After careers in entertainment and the French army, Mehdi and Alexandre found a new path through a chance meeting with a couple of gay massage therapists who introduced them to the world of professional bodywork. Now the founders of Le 8 in Paris, they combine training from renowned French schools with a shared belief in the power of therapeutic touch. Their studio offers a calm, male-focused space where clients can reconnect with their bodies through professional massage that balances physical relief and mental wellbeing.
Alexandre & Mehdi at Le 8, Paris
GWF: Mehdi and Alexandre, how did you become professional masseurs working specifically with male clients?
First, we come from different areas. I worked as Art Director in an entertainment company so I know how to communicate and to set things up. Alexandre worked in human resources in french army. He knows how to deal with different personalities.
Like in many lives, every change starts with a meeting. Another gay french massage therapist couple introduced us with their passion. The skills you need, how to train and where you have to start. Our journey finally started thanks to this meeting, a shared interest in bodywork, wellbeing, and the importance of physical touch in maintaining balance in everyday life. Over time we trained in famous french schools and developed our practice, and we noticed that many men were looking for a space where they could relax without judgment. That naturally led us to specialize in massage for men, creating an environment where they feel comfortable and understood.
GWF: What inspired you to create Le 8 in Paris?
We wanted to create a place dedicated to men's wellbeing. In many cultures, men are not always encouraged to take time for self-care or to receive therapeutic touch. With Le 8, we wanted to design a calm and welcoming space where men can disconnect from stress, reconnect with their bodies, and simply take time for themselves.
« Le 8 », because it's and important symbol in massage world, it's the infinity. The infinity (∞) represents something that has no beginning and no end. In massage, it symbolizes a continuous, flowing movement that creates balance and harmony in the body. It's also our number address and for what it worth, my favourite number :)
GWF: Do you notice a difference in the proportion of gay and straight clients?
Our clients come from diverse backgrounds but they are mostly gay, some are straight, but many simply appreciate the comfort of receiving massage in a male-focused environment. What they all share is the desire to relax, release tension, and experience professional bodywork in a respectful setting.
GWF: What role can massage play in maintaining a healthy body and mind?
Massage can have a powerful effect on both the body and the mind. Physically, it helps release muscular tension, improve circulation, and support recovery after physical effort. Mentally, it allows people to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. In our experience, regular massage can become an important part of maintaining overall wellbeing.
GWF: You offer three types of massage. Can you explain the differences?
We offer different styles depending on what the client needs. One focuses more on deep muscular work, helping to release tension and knots in the body. Another is more relaxing and fluid, allowing the nervous system to calm down and the body to fully unwind. The third combines elements of both, creating a balanced experience between therapeutic work and relaxation.
GWF: How do you identify what each client needs when they arrive?
The first moments of a session are very important. We take time to speak with the client, understand how they feel physically and mentally, and ask about any areas of tension or discomfort. This conversation helps us adapt the pressure, rhythm, and techniques to create a session that truly suits them.
GWF: How do you create a safe and comfortable environment?
Trust and respect are central to everything we do. From the moment clients arrive, we aim to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Confidentiality, professionalism, and clear communication help people feel safe. When clients feel respected and at ease, they are able to relax much more deeply.
GWF: What should someone expect from their first professional massage?
For many people the first session can feel a little unfamiliar, but it quickly becomes a moment of deep relaxation. Clients can expect a calm environment, attentive listening, and a massage adapted to their comfort level. Our goal is that they leave feeling lighter, more relaxed, and more connected to their bodies.
GWF: What transformations do you see when clients fully relax during a session?
When someone truly lets go during a massage, the change can be quite visible. Muscles soften, breathing becomes deeper, and the face often looks more relaxed. Many clients leave with a sense of calm and clarity, sometimes even surprised by how much tension they had been carrying.
